Haha thanks for bringing this to my attention. I didn’t even know that there is such a thing. Obviously, I’m not particularly into these kinds of things. Haha

Yohan Forbes
My name is Yohan Forbes, i am an independent award winning director from London. My first film ‘Project One’ which shows the journey of a skateboarder across London won best film at the 2009 BFI/BBC Future Film Festival, was selected for the BFI National Archives and featured in the ‘London Moves Me’ event in the London Film Festival as well as being shown in 30 film festivals around the UK and abroad. My next upcoming short titled ‘I,Everyday’ was shot on location in Shizuoka Japan. The film tells the story of two brothers, one lives a normal life working in a bike shop while his brother lives as a recluse who suffers from Hikikomori. A social disorder that causes young people to isolate themselves from family, friends and the outside environment. The film is intended for release in festivals in the UK and abroad this summer. If you like what you see, i would be more than happy to let you feature it on your site/blog or social networks, below is an explanation of hikikomori with a link to the trailer via vimeo.
What is Hikikomori?
Hikikomori (ひきこもり or 引き籠もり, Hikikomori?, literally “pulling away, being confined”, i.e., “acute social withdrawal”) is a Japanese term to refer to the phenomenon of reclusive people who have chosen to withdraw from social life, often seeking extreme degrees of isolation and confinement because of various personal and social factors in their lives. The term hikikomori refers to both the sociological phenomenon in general as well as to people belonging to this societal group. In Western terminology this group may include individuals suffering from social phobia or social anxiety problems. This could also be due to agoraphobia, avoidant personality disorder or painful or extreme shyness.
